What kind of person was Abraham?

Abraham was handpicked by God to become the father of many nations. So Abraham must have been a pretty upright guy, right? Actually, Abraham was no saint. He was a human being, complete with flaws and inconsistences in character. Abraham tended to lie when he felt cornered. When Abraham and Sarah were ready to enter Egypt, Abraham instructed the beautiful Sarah to tell the Egyptians that the two of them were brother and sister, not husband and wife. Abraham was afraid the Egyptians would kill him if they knew he was Sarah’s husband.
