The Pentateuch

What route did the Israelites take to get to the Promised Land?

Tracing the route on a map, it is apparent that the Israelites took a roundabout way to get there. God could have led them through the land of the Philistines. However, God said to himself, “If the people are faced with a battle, they might change their minds and return to Egypt.” (NLT, Exodus 13:17) So God led them along the scenic route, through the wilderness.
