What was God’s message to Edom?

God told Obadiah to tell the Edomites that they should not be prideful because their day of ruination was coming. God said, “You are proud because you live in a rock fortress and make your home high in the mountains. ‘Who can ever reach us way up here?’ you ask boastfully. Don’t fool yourselves! Though you soar as high as eagles and build your nest among the stars, I will bring you crashing down. I, the LORD, have spoken!” (NLT, Obadiah 1:2–3)

If it was the Babylonians whom the Edomites helped, then Obadiah’s prophecy came true quickly. In 553 B.C.E., thirty-three years after Jerusalem was conquered by the Babylonians, the Babylonians conquered Edom.
