Also known as the priestly blessing, this prayer was prescribed by God to Aaron and his sons as a way to bless the Israelites. The blessing is, “The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you; the LORD lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace.” (NRSV, Numbers 6:24–26) Churches all over the world use the Aaronic blessing to this day.
