Most scholars say the book was written between 64 and 70 C.E. In 64 C.E. the Emperor Nero started persecuting Christians. And in 70 C.E. is the year the Romans destroyed the temple in Jerusalem, a fact the author of Hebrews most likely would have mentioned, given the context of the letter.
