Who was Amos?

Amos, whose name means encumbered or burdened, was a shepherd and farmer from the southern kingdom of Judah. He was a prophet during the reign of Judah’s King Uzziah (783–742 B.C.E.) and Israel’s King Jeroboam II (786–746 B.C.E.).
