Who was Jesus’ next apostle?

Matthew. Jesus came across Matthew as Matthew was working at a tax booth. Jesus commanded Matthew, “Follow me,” and he did. In Jesus’ day, tax collectors were disliked by most people. Tax collectors had the reputation for extortion, so Matthew seemed an unlikely choice for an apostle.
