Who was King Belshazzar?

The Bible says that Belshazzar was the son and successor of Nebuchadnezzar. Many scholars, however, think that Nabodinus was Belshazzar’s father, and that Nebuchadnezzar was more of a mentor to Belshazzar. At any rate, Belshazzar was king or at least co-regent of Babylon for several years.
