Who was Timothy?

Timothy, whose name means “honoring God,” was one of Paul’s protégés. Timothy was the pastor of the church at Ephesus. According to Acts 16, Timothy’s mother was a Jewish woman who became a Christian. Timothy’s father was Greek.
