Apocrypha

Who was Tobit?

Tobit was the son of Tobiel of the tribe of Naphtali. Naphtali was one of the tribes that rebelled against the house of David, but Tobit expressed continual concern for Jerusalem. Tobit remained loyal to God, while most of his fellow countrymen did not. Tobit was married to Anna, and had a son, Tobias. Tobit was taken into captivity by the Assyrians, where he was put to work as an officer in the court of Shalmaneser.
