Who was the one caused Paul pain?

Paul wrote, “Now, regarding the one who started all this—the person in question who caused all this pain—I want you to know that I am not the one injured in this as much as, with a few exceptions, all of you.” (The Message, II Corinthians 2:5) The identity of the man is unclear. One theory is that Paul referenced the man who was in a relationship with his stepmother. Another theory is that the man was someone who attacked Paul verbally.
