Why did Jesus get baptized?

John knew he was inferior to Jesus, and was reluctant to baptize him. However, Jesus said to John, “Let it be so now: it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness.” (NIV, Matthew 3:15) So, by being baptized, Jesus was doing God’s will.
