Apocrypha

Why did Tobit argue with his wife?

As the years passed, Tobit became sadder and sadder. One day his wife received a goat in payment for some weaving she did. When Tobit heard the goat bleat and found out from his wife how the goat came to be at their house, Tobit did not believe his wife. They argued. Tobit confessed his sins, and prayed to die: “So now deal with me as you will; command my spirit to be taken from me, so that I may be released from the face of the earth and become dust.” (NRSV, Tobit 3:6)
