Why is the story of Ruth important? |
It is a story about love, generosity, and selflessness. It is about people sticking together during rough times, and celebrating together in times of joy. Also, the story provides additional framework for Jesus’ lineage. Ruth, a Moabite, was an unlikely wife for Boaz, an Israelite. Again, God worked through unusual circumstances using humble people to work his will. Ruth and Boaz’s son, Obed, was the father of Jesse. Jesse was the father of David. David was an ancestor of Jesus.
