When Pharaoh told the Israelites to make more bricks, for all intents and purposes it was a death sentence. Brickmaking was outside work. The Israelites worked all day in blistering heat. They had no hats and no sunblock. It is unlikely that their taskmasters allowed them to stop every ten minutes for a water break. It is likely that untold numbers of Israelites died of dehydration and heatstroke.
