Following the telophase of mitosis, cytokinesis—the physical separation of the daughter cells—occurs. Although the exact mechanisms are not clear, it appears that larger organelles, such as the endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi apparatus, undergo fragmentation into small vesicles during mitosis and later reassemble in daughter cells.
