How far do some types of hummingbird migrate? |
The longest migratory flight of a hummingbird documented to date is the flight of a rufous hummingbird from Ramsey Canyon, Arizona, to near Mt. Saint Helens, Washington, a distance of 1,414 miles (2,277 kilometers). Hummingbird studies, however, are difficult to complete because so few banded birds are recovered.
