What are some uses of genetic engineering techniques?

When it comes to humans, the uses of genetic engineering have been very controversial. This is because genetic engineering interferes with the processes of heredity and can alter the genetic structure of our own species—thus, the concern over the ethical ramifications of such power, as well as the possible health and ecological consequences of the creation of these bacterial forms. That being said, genetic engineering of other organisms for various fields are many and continue to grow.
