What are the fastest and slowest whales?

The orca or killer whale (Orcinus orca) is the fastest-swimming whale. In fact, it is the fastest-swimming marine mammal, with speeds that reach 31 miles (50 kilometers) per hour. Right whales (Eubalaena japonica) are one of the slowest whale species, typically traveling at 1.2 to 2.5 miles (2–4 kilometers) per hour.
