What are the shortest and longest chromosomes?

Among human chromosomes, the length ranges from fifty to 250 million base pairs. The longest chromosome is chromosome 1, with 300 million bases (approximately 10 percent of the human genome), and the shortest is chromosome 21, with 50 million bases.
