What is the electromagnetic spectrum?

The electromagnetic spectrum is the range of wavelengths. It ranges from gamma rays with very short wavelengths (10-5 nanometers) and high energy to radio waves with longer wavelengths (103 meters) and less energy. Visible light, seen as color (in other words, all the colors of the rainbow), occurs between 380 and 750 nanometers; ultraviolet light has a shorter wavelength, while infrared light has a greater wavelength.
