What is the largest group of vertebrates?

The largest group of vertebrates is fish, a diverse group that includes almost 21,000 species, more than all other kinds of vertebrates combined. Most members of this group are osteichythes, or “bony fish,” which includes fish well known to fishermen and fish-lovers alike, such as bass, trout, and salmon.
