What is the parietal lobe for?

Your parietal lobe controls your speech, visual perception, pain and touch perception, spatial orientation (like knowing what direction is up), and other cognitive processes. As you can probably tell by now, there is some degree of overlap between the broad types of functions carried out by different parts of the brain.
