What did Grant do after the failure of the attack on the Crater?

He could only expand his siege lines and hope that the combined weight of men and materiel would eventually wear down Lee’s men. After the failure of the attack, the major initiative for the summer campaign was in Sherman’s hands, not Grant’s.
