Have any dinosaur proteins withstood millions of years of burial?

Yes. Recently, researchers at the North Carolina State University found fragments of proteins in the 80 million-year-old remains of a Brachylophosaurus canadensis, a duck-billed dinosaur. This was an amazing discovery, since few scientists believed a protein could last more than 100,000 years. Researchers nicknamed it a “dino-protein,” and found that the dinosaur’s protein fragment was similar to that found in chickens and ostriches. This helped support the bird-dinosaur connection, one of the most controversial theories in dinosaur studies today.
