Dinosaurs Inside and OutTeeth and Claws |
Were the arms of some carnivorous dinosaurs used for anything? |
The arms of some carnivorous dinosaurs were equipped with ferocious claws. The claws allowed the animals to grasp prey while the animal ripped off large chunks of meat, or to hold down prey while they bit and slashed, trying to bring down the victim. Others, such as a Deinonychus, would hold down its victim with its long arms, positioning itself to slash the prey with its large, hind claws.
