Contrary to popular belief, there is not just one type of dinosaur bone; these complex structures formed the skeletons of complex animals. There are volumes of dinosaur bone tissue studies—most based on the various stages of growth and development—that are too involved to adequately address in just one book.
Overall, there were three main types of dinosaur bone tissues: the primary bone, Haversian (or secondary) bone, and growth ring bone tissue. These varied between the different bones in a dinosaur and sometimes even within individual bones. And they certainly differed from dinosaur to dinosaur.
