Where were the fossilized remains of a Jurassic period tree found?

The fossilized remains of a Jurassic period tree were discovered in the Garden Park Fossil Park near Canon City, Colorado, by a teenager on a school outing. While scraping in the dirt, the teenager found what he thought was a bone; a tour guide realized the fossil’s true identity. The fossilized tree, believed to be a type of conifer, was carefully dug out. This is the first Jurassic period (about 150 million years old) tree from Garden Park, and perhaps the entire Front Range of Colorado.
