How does a city get chosen to host the Olympics

The International Olympic Committee chooses a city as an Olympic site through a complex process. Cities (and their countries) are judged on many characteristics, including environmental protection, climate, security, medical services, immigration, housing, and many others. Cities eagerly spend millions of dollars in construction and preparation for possible selection as a host city, as an investment in the city’s future.
