About 41 percent of household water is used for flushing the toilets; 37 percent is used for bathing; and the remaining 22 percent is used for washing dishes (six percent), drinking and cooking (five percent), laundry (four percent), cleaning (three percent), lawn and garden usage (two percent), and other purposes.
