What is the Chunnel

The Channel Tunnel (or Chunnel) is a railroad tunnel under the Strait of Dover in the English Channel. The Chunnel runs for 31 miles (50 kilometers) between Folkestone (near Dover) in the United Kingdom and Sangatte (near Calais) in France. Opened in 1994, the Chunnel connects England with the rest of continental Europe.
