What is the highest point in the United States?

Alaska’s Mt. McKinley (also known as Denali) is the highest point in the United States at 20,320 feet (6,194 meters). In the contiguous 48 states, the highest point is California’s Mt. Whitney at 14,495 feet (4,418 meters), which is less than 100 miles (161 kilometers) from North America’s lowest point, Death Valley (282 feet [86 meters] below sea level).
