What is the longest bridge in the world?

Completed in 1956, the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway that connects New Orleans with Mandeville, Louisiana, is 24 miles (38.6 kilometers) long—the longest bridge in the world. A parallel bridge adding two more lanes was completed in 1969.
