What is the oldest continually occupied city in the United States?

Saint Augustine, Florida, was founded in 1565 by Spanish explorer Pedro Menendez de Avilés. Saint Augustine is located on Florida’s eastern (Atlantic) coast and now has a population of approximately 12,000. It is not only the oldest continually occupied city in the United States, but also in all of North America.
