The rustbelt is a term used to describe the United States’ declining manufacturing region of the northeast and Midwest. Factory closures, especially those of steel and textile mills, have resulted in massive unemployment and declining population in rustbelt cities. The rustbelt runs from about Minnesota to Massachusetts.
