Where was the first atomic bomb used on a populated area? |
The Japanese city of Hiroshima was leveled by an atomic bomb dropped by the United States on August 6, 1945. Three days later, the United States dropped a second bomb on Nagasaki, Japan. While these events may have hastened the Japanese surrender in World War II, over 115,000 people were killed immediately due to the blasts, and many more died later due to radiation-related diseases.
