Who carved Mt. Rushmore |
Gutzon Borglum, an American sculptor, designed this national memorial located in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Construction began in 1927 and was nearly complete when Borglum died in March 1941. Borglum oversaw construction of the 60-foot-tall (18-meter-tall) heads of Presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, and Theodore Roosevelt. After Borglum’s death, his son completed the work on the unfinished Roosevelt by the end of 1941.
