Who invented the first train

In 1825, British engineer George Stephenson invented the first train, which was powered by steam. Stephenson’s train was introduced to North America in the 1830s and was used until the 1940s when diesel-electric locomotives, which didn’t run on expensive coal, replaced steam locomotives.
