When did the Big Band era begin?

On December 1, 1934, Benny Goodman’s Let’s Dance was broadcast on network radio, which effectively launched the swing era, in which Big Band music achieved huge popularity. Goodman (1909–1986) was a virtuoso clarinetist and bandleader. His jazz-influenced dance band took the lead in making swing the most popular style of the time.
