Who were the Angles? |
The Angles were yet another Germanic tribe; they originated in Schleswig in northwestern Germany. Like other Germanic peoples, they were on the move by the fifth century. Arriving in England, the Angles joined the Saxons (also a Germanic-speaking people), after which time they together became known as Anglo-Saxons, a term referring to any non-celtic settler of Britain.
