401(K)s

Can I withdraw money from my 401(k) before I retire?

Yes, you can withdraw money from your 401(k) before you retire, but you will pay rather severe penalties to do so if you are younger than age 59½. Although the penalties may also include employer penalties in addition to IRS penalties, you will most likely have to pay 10% additional taxes on the money withdrawn.
