Avoiding Scams

How can I as an investor avoid fraud and scams while I am engaged in investing?

You may avoid fraud while engaging in investing by being skeptical of stock “tips” and advice posted on various online communities. Also, you should be skeptical about subscribing to or reading “free” investment advice newsletters that may falsify information pertaining to the potential change in a security’s price in order to affect the price of that security without proper disclosure about the writer’s relationship to that security. You should also ignore various online bulletin boards touting investment ideas, and delete e-mail spam attempting to entice you into parting with your money.
