Home Ownership As an Investment

How can I use this information when purchasing a home?

A buyer may use the results of a home inspection in several ways. You can use the information to reduce the offer price, or to reduce the price after you have made an offer. A buyer can also use an inspection to tell a seller what items need to be repaired before he will buy the house. In other words, the buyer and seller negotiate either to make the necessary repairs, or to reduce the price to accommodate the buyer, who will have to make the repairs later.
