Participant-directed 401(k) plans are more choice-centered because many employers give the employees many investment choices, allowing an employee to choose how he wishes to invest his retirement savings, either through investment vehicles such as stocks and mutual funds, bonds and bond funds, and even the purchase of his employer’s stock.
