What are four reasons why long-term investing may be diminishing?

Experts at the World Economic Forum—in workshops and interviews of 150 participants (academicians, policy makers, and professionals)—found several factors leading to the decrease in long-term investing: decline of the period in which investors actually hold stocks or positions in equity investments; high frequency computer-assisted trading; the brevity of tenure of CEOs of publicly traded companies; and the intense focus on companies’ quarterly earnings.
