What is an “asset income multiple”?

An asset income multiple is the product of an equation in which you divide your net assets available for such items as retirement by your current income. The larger the result, the better your chance to accumulate enough to fuel your retirement. If the result is low, you need to make some adjustments if at all possible, including reducing your expenses, saving more, or delaying your retirement age in order to obtain more income.
