What is the typical organization of a fund?

Typical investment funds have organizations that may include: a fund or investment manager who helps drive the fund’s investment decisions, researchers/analysts who assist in providing analysis on investment ideas and trades; a fund administrator who manages trading activity, redemptions, account reconciliations, valuations, and pricing; a board of directors who ensure the fund is complying with regulations and laws, as well as the general mission of the fund, and safeguarding shareholders’ interests; the actual shareholders (who may be individuals, trusts, corporations, or even other mutual funds); and marketing and public relations teams who may be employees or outside companies engaged in creating demand for and sales of the fund’s assets. Behind the scenes, there may also be many financial and accounting professionals, both internal and external, who ensure the capital flows and taxes are correctly accounted for and paid regularly.
