What does it cost to file for bankruptcy?

As of this writing, debtors must pay a filing fee of $245, an administrative fee of $39, and a trustee surcharge fee of $15 for a total of $299 in fees. Debtors will pay this in addition to the fees they will pay their attorney. Failure to pay the required fees can result in dismissal of the bankruptcy petition.
