One such competition is the International Sudoku Tournament, such as the one in 2011 held in Beijing, China (the former and current national Sudoku champions Sarah Jane Cua and Timothy James Tan topped the youth category). There is also the World Sudoku Championship, first held in March 2006 in Lucca, Italy; in 2011, it was held in Hungary. There is also the Sudoku National Championship in the United States. In addition, there are more local championships, such as the Indian Sudoku Championship, which is held to qualify contestants to represent their country in the World Sudoku Championship. Most of the competitions offer cash prizes, a chance to go on to other tournaments, or just the satisfaction of winning.
