What is a linear combination? |
A linear combination is a combination or the sum of two or more entities with each multiplied by some number (with not all the numbers being zero). Linear combinations of vectors, equations, and functions are common. For example, if x and y are vectors and a and b are numbers, then ax + by is a linear combination.
